There are little things in life that just cheers your day up. Was in Singapore for 3 days and 2 Nights. Attended the bank's Sanction training and the training ended earlier so I thought I could catch an earlier flight home but because I did not have a flexible ticket I couldn't change the ticket time.

Nevertheless I think God always has the best in store. I met my former roommate in the plane and we were assigned seats next to each other. Talked about coincidence. Nothing planned but same flight, side by side seats and our homes near each other.

Little things that cheers you up.

It's been a long while since I posted something on my blog.

Well I don't think I can stop studying. Learning is so much fun. I am still praying that I will have an opportunity to do my masters overseas. It's been 3 weeks of children ministry class on Tuesdays. Although its been rather tiring rushing up and down but it's nice to just sit and learn.

Lots of interesting ideas but for me I think what u have really learned from the class is the person of my Heavenly Father. That's what make class really worth it.

Was also glad for the mini holiday that my sis and I went for. Nothing but a time to relax and rejuvenate. Looking forward to more trips!! Love travelling...

I appreciated how the Year 2013 ended and how I started the Year 2014. Took 3 weeks leave which gave me time to meet up with friends, family members, house chores and enjoy the much needed rest.

I never had such a long leave since I left university so the long break was really good as it gave me time to reflect, think, and just pause. I got a bit restless on the days where I had to stay at home and can't go out to the gym. Miss the gym much so the hols was a good time to catch up on all the exercise as well. This are the moments I wish I have longer leaves =)

I learn that you don't need to travel to have a good time, all you need is good company which is much more satisfying.

Went for a Corporate preview of Dialogue in the Dark. It was good being able to understand the blind a bit more. It was also a good team building event especially since the group of us that went are not yet so close.

Carol's Hens Lunch in KLCC. Same day that we celebrated Grace and Sherah's birthday (Colleagues)! Lunch time was split. First half with the new staff and the second half with the old staff. Accomplish quite a lot in that short lunch time.

Had the privilege to see Lake Toba with my family. A good relaxing time! God is really one magnificent God.

The Old Folks CF reunion at KLCC. How we never change after 3 years +. When bros and sis in Christ meet up.

AMA Gals finally had our meet up after so many years.... The gals from Melaka and Singapore made their way to KL and we had a really good time just catching up on each others lives.

Went out with our 3 little nieces as well. They enjoyed themselves and I am glad that they did.

Eleanor's 1 years old Birthday! iKids teachers first baby!

Our friends from Sibu came down to KL. We had a good time. The gals are not used to our western food but loves Chinese food. Meeting friends along the way is always nice.

Old HSBC staff meet up. Managed to meet up with Christine, Kelly and Karen who has left the bank. We had a crazy wild time just sad that it was a rather short one.

Also had the opportunity to meet up with Eu Pui after ages... My big sis that has been a blessing to me in my CF days. Though we disagree at times but I learned a lot from her. Times with her always are always uplifting.

Because we brought back one group of nieces, 7th aunts grandchildren also wanted to come over. So we had the nephew and niece sleepover at our place. Looks like my house is becoming a nursery.

It has been a rather busy few months. From weddings (Andrew, Christine, Aimi, to farewells. Its really sad to see people that I have become so accustomed to leave the bank. Well, that's how things I supposed but nevertheless am glad that they have found something better for themselves and am glad to have known Christine, Su Chan and Karen.

I also managed to do a short catch up with Jerusha beginning of September after nearly a year. Its refreshing to catch up with friends who are like sisters to you. You just walk away from each gathering feel more recharged, blessed and encouraged.

Thanks to Christine's wedding on 15 September, we had a mini outing in Penang. A rather interesting experience since we saw the Malay side of Penang trying the various Malay food that the Pearl of Malaysia had to offer. Malaysia is indeed blessed with a rich culture and yes lots and lots of food!

Enjoyed the company and the entire wedding celebration! Glad to see a good friend tying the knot.

1st Team Lunch

Su Chan's Farewell. Going to miss knowing such a great 'tai kah jie'

Karen's Farewell. Going to miss another good friend in office. We had a good lunch with lots of laughter and I learned how to eat Northern Indian Banana Leaf

July has been quite a month.
  • 2 colleagues from my team resigned.
  • To complete my Advance Certificate assignment
  • Submission of postgraduate related application
  • Replacing others in ikids
Glad July is over and everything is more or less well, back to normal. August should be a more restful month and I am hoping that the 4Q of  2013 will be less taxing though I have loads of projects scheduled for 4Q13.

Nevertheless, this month has been a month of new experience. Because my colleagues have resigned, I am forced to learn new stuff in a rapid pace. My postgraduate application also brought me new encounters that makes me thank God for my nation. To think that another country is more organised, I guess, whether a country is efficient or not will depend on the people. Efficient people at all ranks will lead to efficient services to the people.

A few take home lessons that I learned along the way.
  1. To be once again reminded on what a supportive family I have.
  2. My lecturers in TARC really put the student interest above theirs. Their willingness to go the extra mile for the students. A virtue that should be with all teachers.
  3. I have been blessed with great bosses and colleagues. My supportive "father" and "mother" in office.
  4. Malaysians are a loving bunch of people and its easier to deal with them.
  5. Some people are just a pain. Charging you unnecessary. To that Dude that took my RM95. I forgive you because God forgave me more than the RM95 you took from me.
  6. Ladies always have a warm heart. To the lady that went the extra mile to assist me in my application, I know you are God sent. May God bless you and your family for your special touch.
  7. God answers at His own timing. He looks at the heart and not at my hands or my capabilities.
I wanted to have a break quite badly in July that I took quite a number of leave. All because I had to run errands but last weekend managed to organise a mini-outing to Frasers staying at Sri Damai (HSBC's Bungalow). The place is awesome and the 7 of us had a great time! Strangely, I am hanging out with people that are at 17 years my senior. Gosh! They must really think I am quite childish in whatever I do. 17 years is a big big gap. That's all the way from kindy, to primary education and even completed secondary school. Well, I still feel quite old because they are more agile compared to me so yeah age does not matter I guess.

It was a good outing with lots of walking, hiking and outdoors. Uncle Wong the caretaker compensates all our exercise with huge and tasty meals. So it was a laid back holiday and I am looking forward to the next. I think I am addicted to travelling. I just love holidays.....

Too lazy to write. Enjoy the pictures below!! Work + Leisure is the way to go! Hopefully I will get to go for more of such conferences or work related things. An eye opener as well as a good time to see the different cultures. Love the richness of culture the world has to offer. Need to be a different place each time though. :p

Now there's nothing extraordinary in Hong Kong but the things that lead to this trip has been extraordinary. To sum it up I received my credit card few hours before my flight to Hong Kong, book an accommodation for the extra night in Hong Kong in about 2 days earlier and Levina agreeing to come to Hong Kong with just a few weeks notice. Oh and also nearly had the trip cancel the week before I was suppose to fly off. Seriously, to be able to go to Hong Kong and come back to tell the story is beyond this world. The timing can never be so precise. Well, all glory be to HIM.

2011

A year that saw Muammar Gadaffi die, Terrible Tsunami in Japan, saw many Westerners lost their jobs, the Apple King dead, North Korea's Country Head died, Famine, Flooding and Bersih 2011. It is also the year where the war between US and Iraq ended, Palestine admitted into UNESCO, Harimau Malaya won Gold Medal in Sea Games, and my sister Graduated from her MBA.

Looking back I just realised how much I complain about work. Still do....However, my outlook of work has since quite change realising that the main reason of my existence is to glorify HIM. If you would ask me how I would summarise the year 2011 well the one word I would use to describe 2011 is humbling.

A year that I am brought back to ground zero. After all the achievements, positions, titles and knowing the ins and outs of whatever I do, I am brought back to a place where I know nothing, no experience, the youngest as well as 'no voice'. Learning to rely on HIM more than my own knowledge and experience.

It has been the year of 'First' of many things as well.

My First - Permanent Job (Stated in Dec 2010)
My First - Mandarin Class
My First - Easter Sunrise Service
My First - Trip to Kota Kinabalu (covered from KK to Kota Belud), Sabah
My First - Time being part of the World Vision Famine Campaign
My First - Carol-ling at a Christian Bookshop in KL.
My First - Trip to China

It was really heart warming to see young children grow as well. Am really glad and proud of the young ones in class that managed to memorise the whole psalm 23 in less than 40 minutes. (Some as young as 9 years old) Saw them grow in size too (esp the little ones).

A year where ICC took new steps as well. We commissioned our first Pastor and also moved into our new premise.

It's quite funny as the tough times are also usually the most unforgettable times. I am thankful to God for the ups and downs through out the year. He has indeed been faithful even when I am faithless. 2 Thess 3:3 ' But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.'

Looking forward to the adventures in 2012.....

Up next - Exam Results in Mid Jan, CNY, AML Certification Feb, Hong Kong Work & Leisure Trip Feb and loads more to come :)

It was a one week tour to Southern China. Below is a short summary of the trip if any of you are interested to go as well. Well, my apologies that it starts from Day 8 instead of Day 1. One thing for sure from one town to the next our routine goes like this. Sleep....Toilet...... Eat..... Sleep....Toilet.... Eat..... :)

Day 8 - Nanning / Kuala Lumpur

Quite sad that we woke up, had breakfast and went straight to the airport. Felt that we should have departed from Guilin airport instead of traveling 6 hours plus to Nanning just for the city feel. (Travelling time a big ripped off).

Day 7 - Nanning

Finally visited Wal-Mart. Super pack with people. Managed to do a little shopping with the 1 and the half hour allocated time. The tour guide was super nice to stop for us so that we can shop at Wal-Mart. Of course there were a lot of unhappy officials yelling because there's no place to stop in the city. The park at Nanning was nothing much to shout about after seeing Guilin and Yangshou. Nevertheless, the last dinner at Nanning was one of the best meals.

Day 6 - Yangshou / Lipu

Very early in the morning we took the bus to see eagle catches fish. I really thought I would see an eagle but its a duck like black bird with his neck tied with some string to avoid the fish that the bird catches to be swallowed down. Its the old traditional way of catching fish. The morning breeze was just right. The old man managing the raft allowed us to have a hand in rowing the raft and we had to sing songs during the little trip as well. They even "berpantun with songs" .

After that they took us to see the Silver Cave, its a limestone cave something like Gua Tempurung but its much older and very well maintained. They lit the cave up with colourful lights and had sign boards to help people with no imaginary to see the stalagmite and stalactite in a different light.

One thing that amazed me was that you could pay to be carried through the more than one hour steep steps to view the majesty of the cave. A big salute to the porters.

Oh but one scary thing is the ladies all dressed in traditional costumes will haunt you. Thank God I am not a guy, if I am they would have pulled my arms and shoulders off. I should have taken photos of the people grabbing the guys to take photos with them for a price of course. If you have been to China, you would probably understand what I am trying to say over here.

Next, it was a trip down the West Street also known as Foreign Language Corner. Over here, you'll see tones of "Ang Mo Kia". Things over here were of course much pricier but it was nice just to walk and see different things. We then took Green Lotus Peak. We saw a Big Banyan Tree and they explained some history but sadly, couldn't understand much due to the language barrier.

It was supposed to be a bilingual tour but the tour was mostly in Mandarin. The tour guide from China did her best to simplify everything for us which was really very considerate of her. The tour guide from Malaysia which should have been translating was of course not doing her job in translating. Her usual response was to tell the other guides or those briefing us to speak slower. Quite funny because if you do not know the language speaking slower will not help. Its like saying f...u....n...n...y..... really slowly and telling someone who can only understand Italian to understand.

Anyway, that night we watch the Impression Liu San Jie. Frankly, everyone seems to know about Liu San Jie but of course I know nothing about this person before I joined this tour. However, the moment we left nanning to Guilin, there is no way you can leave the place without knowing who Liu San Jie is.

I initially thought its some opera singing kinda stuff and wasn't really looking forward to it. I was so impress that it was an outdoor theatre with the hills as its back drop and the river as its stage. A total cast of more than 700 people perform that night and I was telling my sis its like you are watching Beijing Olympics opening ceremony again. Its that big a scale and it was really spectacular. A trip to Guilin will not be complete without this. Is a must watch!!! Of course it cost 180yuan per person if you are on tour or 220yuan if you are not on a tour. Total audience that day was 3000 people and on other times they have 3 shows which is about 9000 people watching the show. Seriously massive!! You can really feel China's labour power here.

Day 5 - Guilin / Yangshou /Lipu

We visited another park in Guilin. It had bridges, lake and big trees. There were many groups dancing by the lake. Its something you see in Taiping. The aunties were really so graceful that if you didn't look at their wrinkled face they would have passed of as any young ladies.

Lunch was at another tasty restaurant in Guilin. Food were nicely carve but they usually serve lots of vegetables instead of meat. The pork served is fatty pork. Nothing but thick layers of fat.

Then we proceed to Lipu where there was a river cruise waiting for us. Spectacular scenery once again but it was so so cold. With the rain and wind blowing it was difficult to stand outside for long. Since it was freezing cold they postponed the Impression Liu San Jie to the next day to avoid the 9 of us being block of ice.

Day 4 - Guilin / Longsheng

Day 3- Nanning / Guilin

After breakfast departed for a 6 hour journey to Guilin. Boy the journey is super long. Took a ceuise along the famous lijang river and view Fubo Hill and Elephant Trunk Hill. 2 compulsory shopping stops and my it was a horrible experience. Never did I imagine how forceful this people are. It felt as though we were in the African safari surrounded by animals waiting to devour us. By the end of the 2nd shopping stop, I was ready to strike China off my future holiday list. I guess scenery is worth it but all the nonsense that you have to endure there's only so much one can bear. (Thank God that the worse was on the 3rd Day, and things picked up after that).

Day 2 - Nanning / De-Tian

Visit the World's Second Largest transnational Waterfall and the largest natural waterfall in South Asia. A pity that we went there during winter, would have been much more beautiful in Spring. However journey to the waterfall is like travelling to Penang 5 hours journey there and another 5 hours journey back. View wise awesome!

Day 1- Nanning

Journey from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Nanning China on China Eastern Airline.
