The song below came to mind this week. When I look back at my life, I have to say I'm loved by the Most High God. Why would He care so much for me that though I fail Him so many times, He still continues to call me? He lavishes His abundant love giving me what I do not deserve.

A question I can never understand. What makes the Lord of the Heavenly Host stoop so low so that He can reach me, one who is insignificant? I'm truly thankful for this privilege to not only be allowed to be associated with Him but to be a part of His royal family. To be given the right to be a called a child of the Living God, placed above the angels. O may I never take for granted the depth of His love.

Who am I, that the lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt?
Who am I, that the bright and morning star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart?

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again?
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me?

Not because of who I am
But because of what you've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who you are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still you hear me when I'm calling
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling
And you've told me who I am
I am yours

Celebrating a colleague's birthday. I'm thankful for the team which God has given. God never fails to bring great people to walk alongside my career journey.

They may all be older than me but definitely younger at heart.

With the former HSBC folks. Only one more left in HSBC. I'm thankful for my time in HSBC. Looking back, God has done the foundation work from Day 1.

Tried out a new place, Mollagaa and the food was good. It was quite a torture only being able to eat veg & eggs but the dishes were tasty which made it bearable

Former colleague knows my life for spicy chips and packed some for me....Yummy! I prefer the drier, non sticky ones but this is tasty too. Spice up the week!

Guess there will be more of such lunch prep. I get this every time mum is on break and now that she's officially off, guess more to come. Soon I can have my meat added on the meal preps. Wheee.......!!

One of the most expensive veg bowl I had. Surprisingly taste wise was not too bad. I wouldn't mind eating this again. Seniman Cocoa Buddha's Bowl. Buddha sure has an expensive taste buds. Haha....

At the rate mum is going, I think I'm doom! Tomato Egg Noodle in the morning, lunch prep and dinners all prepared... Feeling loved but not doing well to my already growing waist line and no time for hiking or exercise. ahhhhh!!!!
Can't wait to be done and over with the projects in office and to hand in my assignment on Monday. Final assignment for the year! May God help me finish 4000 words by tomorrow! Apart from finding the materials, I have not written a word. 🙈 I don't know if I'll be able to get through 2nd year much less 3rd year. O God help me get through these 3 years, plssss........

I have been challenged over and over again to catch the heart of God. What really is the heart of God for this nation & generation? In the midst of all the busyness it's quite easy to slip in to the motion of "doing" things / being busy and losing sight on what truly matters. What truly matters is what matters to God. It's such a challenge to avoid circumstances or emotions rule how we live but we have a higher calling and for this purpose "...we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ," 2 Corinthians 10:5b

Paul says : Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now even more in my absence, continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God who works in you to will and to act on behalf of His good pleasure. Philippians 2 :12-13
The measuring stick is Christ. He is the litmus test that we test our every thought, intentions, actions against. And my prayer / hope is that I'll be found by God that the very substance within me after filtering out the gravel, sand and dirt is pure gold! To reach the finish line and hear the much awaited commendation "Well done, good and faithful servant.
And on that, I am reminded in today's reading and also in Pastor Daniel Tan's message today that once that God vision is given, to have the 'Gideon spirit' - work hard and not give up.
QUOTE
I like thinkers. They make me think. And I applaud their ability to plot. But I love doers even more. They inspire me to action. And it’s the plodders, not the plotters, who make things happen.
God isn’t going to say, “Well planned, good and faithful servant.” He won’t say well thought, well said, or well strategized either. There is one commendation: “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25

8 years has passed since my very first conference in 2011.

10th International Financial Crime Conference. Bigger crowd every year.

And my very first time seeing a teleprompter up close. This is what makes the big shots look so professional in their delivery. Interestingly, only Tun alone uses the teleprompter.

So happy to be able to meet up with friends from yesteryears

The fruits are sweet but not as sweet as the sender. Thank you! I am truly blessed! God sent!😊 I was developing mouth ulcers probably from the lack of sleep but the apples kept the doctor away 🤣 And sender if you are reading this, I appreciate them.

Note : For now, all sweetness to be channeled to the Most High as an offering of pleasing aroma to Him. 😉

At a very Intensive Week, the lunch at SPTC was scrumptious. Food overload 😋

Sunday morning brunch with the mother and sister while waiting for the father at Brickfields... Sri Pandi's!

And a new week unfolds.... Year End is coming soon... 😊 Christmas!... okay now sleeps... 😴

Approximately 3 more weeks and I'm bond free. One year has indeed flown by so quickly. The past one year can be summarized as 'unpredictable'.

When I sign the offer letter, I was prepared for the bureaucracy, slow paced culture, conservative dressing and maybe 'conservative eating' . Well, all that did happened with much much more, more than I anticipated or was prepared for.

I wasn't prepared to lose my boss within 6 months, to be boss-less for 3 months, get a new boss, restructuring, an extension of job scope to my already stretched scope, a wide variety of daily dramas and politics.

Rewind to a few months back... I was ready to throw in the towel especially when my boss was asked to leave and things were quite tough in office. With an offer of another FI buying me out and an increase in salary... it just seem so tempting. I'm thankful that God affirmed through a visiting speaker at the Christian Fellowship, the day when I received the fateful news with the following words "I want to reestablish your purpose here. To be a light and testimony". He shared that he felt that was what God wants some of us at the fellowship to hear. God is indeed timely as these were words during my devotions too. A much needed word and encouragement. I'm also thankful for friends that kept me going along the way by praying with me, processing my thoughts / feelings with me and reminding me of the the reason why I came in the first place. Without the support, I'm not sure if I could have stayed on.

In hindsight, I'm glad I stayed on. Things worked out somehow. In light of the adversity, the team bonded together. God brought new ones on board that made the journey lighter. Yes, there are so many of my department colleagues joining the Christian Fellowship now toooo.. Although, I'm overwhelm with the workload and the ongoing dramas and politics, but the 'experience' as a whole has been invaluable. I don't know how many more days or months or years, the Lord will have me here but He has promised - Deuteronomy 31:6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.

It's such a coincidence too that Sue and I celebrated the last working day of August with my former boss & Lit Seen and celebrated my new boss birthday on the first working day of September. Didn't know it was Inn Sann's birthday till almost lunch time but managed to squeeze in a random lunch treat for her with Sue and a department surprise bday tea. Almost seems as if it's a close of one chapter and the beginning of the next.

Well, I thank God for the past one year. It's been a crazy ride. Truly unpredictable but I'm safe in the hands of the God that more than predicts - He KNOWS the future. Thank you too to the lovely people that has journeyed with me in this roller coaster ride.

Inn Sann's surprise bday tea

Joseph's bday treat & Lit Seen's official farewell lunch

Yes, its beginning to feel a little homey...

Our self sponsored fridge (heavily sponsored by the boss) came on Friday and it's up and running today! Property came and install a new plug point. The 'milo' trick works with adults too. ;)

Interlude - a short period when a situation or activity is different from what comes before and after it

The word wait is an unpopular word in my vocabulary list. Whenever I am told to wait, everything inside of me will look for ways to quicken the process. That feeling heightens when I already have a plan in mind and I am eager to execute it. When I have a lunch appointment and my boss is engaged in a discussion but I need to get the document approve before lunch. My brain thinks of 101 ways to get my boss to sign off the document so that I can go off for lunch. And traffic lights, it always seems as if they just know when you are rushing and flash the red light to keep you waiting.

There are many other times when I have been asked to wait and trust me these moments of 'waiting' seems forever. If I have a choice, I will choose 'go' rather than 'wait'. But yet the ways of God seems to be the opposite. The Bible is filled with verses on 'wait'. 'Wait on the Lord', 'Wait for the coming of the Lord', 'Wait for the harvest', 'Wait for the vision to be fulfilled'etc.

The season of waiting is like an Interlude. It is a short period (often time it feels like a long period... too long), that is in between from what comes before and after it. And just like watching musicals or watching the orchestra, the show has been good. I've been enjoying the performance and I dread it when the house lights come on for an intermission. I want the show to go on. I fidget around. I squirm in my seat. I stare at the time hoping it moves faster. I feel restless but however long that the intermission is, the show will resume and the moment the house lights are turn off, my restlessness during the intermission is forgotten. But the question remains , why must there be an intermission?

The problem stems in my perspective. I look at the period of intermission from the perspective of an audience. I'm sitting in the audience and  enjoying the performance. The intermission is seen as a disruption but if I look at the intermission from the players / the actors, the intermission will be a period that I welcome. It is a time to rest. A time to re-look at the notes that I need to play after the intermission or perhaps the lines that I need to sing out. I enjoy the time on the stage entertaining the crowd but I also know how important the time of intermission is, it gives me the break so that I can advance further. And once the intermission is over, it is show time!

So now.... when is show time! but meanwhile, perhaps I need to take a pause and re-look at my lines..

C. H. Spurgeon
"Prayer is never more real and accepted than when it rises out of the worst places."

It's not a one time cry. It's continuous. Psalm 130:1 I have cried in the past, and still cry.

And what a wonderful promise, God not only hears; He listens.

Alexander Maclaren

  • " If out of the depths we cry, we shall cry ourselves out of the depths."

Psalm 56:3-10 NLT — But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? .....You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book. ..... This I know: God is on my side! I praise God for what he has promised; yes, I praise the LORD for what he has promised.

Jesus says 'I love you'

You are worthy of it all
For from You are all things
And to You are all things
You deserve the glory.

Rom 11:36 - For from him and through him and for him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen

Col 1:16 - For in him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

Bold Faith stands on the shoulders of quiet trust.

GOD is not growing vegetables, He is growing trees.

Jer 17:7-8 "Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but her leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Darkness is when God is nearest. He hides under the shadow of His wings. In the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Your rod and staff comforts me.

Psa 42:11 Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

I wasn't born in Sitiawan or Taiping but when I do go to these towns, I feel a part of me being connected. Hometown of both my parents. Great towns with great stories. The methodist revival in Sitiawan and the brethren revival so to say in Taiping. Missionaries from overseas came to these towns and preached the word of God.

Lord, do it once again! Breathe upon this nation again. Your Kingdom come, Your will be done in Malaysia as it is in heaven.

Do not forget my family.

God doesn’t need your help, he needs your obedience. Your perception of things can never trump his knowledge of everything.

All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could really change at all
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found
Could a garden come up from this ground at all

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us

All around
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found in You

It's 2017! How fast time passes by. Before you know it another year would have ended.

As I look back at 2016, its one of those years which flew by so fast, so many things happening, and yet at the same time so many things not happening. It's nice to always be able to be in the place where everything seems to be happening, where everything seems to be going on fine but circumstances, moments in life, they are not yours to choose. We can nevertheless choose how our response will be.

2016 started as a year of expectation. With the end of my season with HSBC, I was ready for a new chapter! Excited to see what God would be doing as I kept my eyes focus on Him. My prayer for the year was to be drawn deeper and closer to God. Well the year unfolded and let's just say what I expect wasn't what took place for the year. I ended the year on a low note, dreams and desires not met, looking at the promises which I have written down, kept in my heart which has not come to pass. It would appear to be a year of brokenness, questions, doubt and pain.

But in the midst of all the lows of life, it has also been a year where I've grown in many ways. I learn to take one day at a time. I learn to see the hurt and despair in other people's life. I draw closer to the God who call me His child. I shift my focus on looking out for the gifts that He can gift but to focus on the giver. To learn how to trust and wait for His timing and providence.

So its 2017, a start of a new year and its starting on a low note. A place of unfulfilled dreams and His promises. While, I can't see what lies ahead and what 2017 will hold but this I know that God is with me every moment of the way and that He will do what He has promised. The promises may not come to pass in 2017 but not a single one of His promises will fail, everything He had spoken will come true (Joshua 21:45)

Meanwhile, till those promises come to pass, I will rest in HIM and not grow weary. I will train and equip myself so that when the Chief Commander calls, I am prepared to receive that assignment and would have the skill sets, the character and the experience required.

2017 will be a an exhilarating year for the Joy of the Lord will be my strength!

Genesis 28:15  What’s more, I am with you, and I will protect you wherever you go. One day I will bring you back to this land.  I will not leave you until I have finished giving you everything I have promised you.”

I read this on our daily bread. It's so apt because as I look back at the events that took place in my life, each so called down moments were the times that shaped me. God is faithful. He is orchestrating all things at all time so that every moment is a perfect moment.

“In time of trouble say:

First—God brought me here. It is by His will I am in this strait place. In that I will rest.

Next—He will keep me in His love and give me grace in this trial to behave as His child.

Then—He will make the trial a blessing, teaching me lessons He intends me to learn, and working in me the grace He means to bestow.

Last—In His good time He can bring me out again—how and when He knows.

I am here—by God’s appointment, in His keeping, under His training, for His time.”

1Ch 4:10 And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, "Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!" So God granted him what he requested. http://goo.gl/Y0FAK

Its amazing how God moves. In every situation of my life, God is at the helm of it. I may go astray but never far because His watchful eye ensures that I never get myself in too far a mess.

I have always been a person who enjoys planning. In fact, I spent quite a bit of my time planning my finances, my time, my future plans and etc. God however has different plans and the phrase that captured me today is "we must die to our expectations and entrust them to God"

Learning to be like the bible heroes that says "Teach me what I cannot see" (Job 34:32).

Of this I can be sure, although I may not know the reason for things that happened, as long as He is in control I can be rest assured that it is in good hands.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2: 2, 3)

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14)

King Solomon said, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Prov. 3:5-6).

Guide me, O Thou great Jehovah,
Pilgrim through this barren land.
I am weak, but Thou art mighty;
Hold me with Thy powerful hand. —Williams

Even though O God I may not see your purpose for today’s events and it may not be seen until tomorrow, help me to keep trusting that You know best.
