Did it! 1 Hour and 26minits. Okay, not something to shout about but I played in the KL league (floorball) the day before and by the time I came back home it was 7 plus in the evening, celebrated Dad’s birthday and it was off to bed and the run in the morning.

Quite weird I wasn’t feeling nervous didn’t really had anything in mind but I came with a purpose today and that was to pray for UPM. Since, I am going to go for more runs (hopefully) I thought it was only good that I should enter into the habit of running and praying at the same time and not just thinking of winning and getting the glory. So that’s what I did. Amazing!

I felt I could run much faster if not because of the sea of people that were in front. Firstly we didn’t even know we were flag off, standing right behind the line (first time what do you expect?) and then everyone started running and we were still talking then someone said “Eh! Run…. Start already” So then we said “Oh!” and we begin our journey.

Countless hills. I thought that stamina would be a problem but actually is the people factor that was a problem. It was quite hard to keep slowing down then picking up pace again as there was so many people. Nevertheless, I kept going.

One thing I was reminded throughout the race was that we are in this lives race. Many things may distract you from finishing the race. The beautiful parks, the food stalls where you can just sit and forget your purpose or just your friends that are running with you that you forgot why you were in the race and start taking pictures the whole way. Also in this race, you don’t know what’s ahead. You don’t know where to run all you have to do is look out for sign boards and trust the people in front to lead you ahead. Apart from that, you can be disqualified from the race if you take short cuts, do not abide in the rules and regulations set by the organizers. Last but not least your self could be a factor. Tiredness, Body Aches, Weak Mentally and also illness.

I like the way Paul puts it in 1 Corinthians 9:24-27

“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus : not with uncertainty. Thus I fight : not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection lest when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. “

So this is to mark my first of public race. I thank the LORD for bringing me through and the wonderful time we had throughout the run. =) Can’t believe that Elder Ang (81 years old) said the same thing in his message today in church. By the way just for your info I didn’t know they changed the distance to 11km plus instead of 10km which I only noticed it when I reached the finish line and saw the certificate.
