“My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning,” wrote the psalmist (Ps. 130:6 NIV). The picture comes to mind of a watchman counting the minutes for his shift to be over.

I pray for the patience to endure times of trial, to keep anticipating, keep hoping, keep believing. I pray for patience to be patient.

Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles,
they shall run and not be weary,
they shall walk and not faint. —Isaiah 40:31

Day 1

Up and awake at 3 something in the morning. Awful time to be awake. Had breakfast at LCCT and since we wanted somewhere quiet Taste of Asia was chosen. If any foreigners were to judge Malaysian food from there well there goes our reputation. Horrible food. They can't even prepare proper nasi lemak! No complaints of the RM10 nasi lemak since its the airport but quality?? I think they can do better than that.

All smiles for the camera. First time on Air Asia.

This is what lil bro was busy looking at. The morning horizon and the plane's wing.

For most parts of the journey he sees nothing but clouds.

When we landed, our car was waiting for us. We rented the car for the entire duration we were here. Toyota Avanza. Quite spacious. We stayed in Marina Court D2-01. Hmm.... condition wise is rather spacious. Beds rather comfortable to sleep in. There's cooking facilities, washing machine and even rice cooker. However, the bathrooms needs a little maintenance. The shower in one bathroom wasn't functioning well and both the toilets had some problem with the flush. Found out that you can get cheaper accommodations around KK. Next round, we will know better. That goes to show that MATTA Fair doesn't have all the answers. Found it rather interesting when my mum was asking the agent why the rates shown outside was cheaper than what we paid all she could say that its standard rate and when mum says so normal rates are cheaper than MATTA fair promotional rates she said yes. Amazing! Well, after throwing the luggages it was time to explore KK.

The rather disappointing view from Signal Hill. You can see nothing but a couple of shops. Its not high enough to be an observation point.

Dinner at Ta Jia Lai was good. The restaurant is in penampang. Everything tasted fresh and nice. The only worth eating place so far.

Day 2

After a light breakfast in the apartment it was time to head down to KK park. We had a lot of de-tours. We stopped by mesilau, a dairy farm, the war memorial, ranau for lunch, poring hot springs, and finally KK. Day 2 ended with dinner in Salut Seafood Village. The view is just awesome. It looks like you are in Austria, Switzerland (minus snow capped mountain) or Scotland. It reminded me of my time back in Europe. The weather in Kundasang was much cooler and it felt rather chilly. I think I can say that for the family the trip up here was the highlight. Won't being stay in KK town next round if we come here is so much more scenic and COOLER. Of course we have not conquered Mount KK so we will have to come back one day and say that we have been there done that! =) Personal satisfaction of conquering mountain after mountain. Till today I think in the category of 'gunung' I've conquered Gunung Ledang, Gunung Brinchang, Gunung Beremban. Hmmm... don't think the rest fall under this category.

The waterfall had little fishes where siblings took the opportunity to go for free fish spa. I on the other hand prefer dipping my legs in the hot spring. :)

Well another point to note, Salut Seafood Village was a big let down after Saturday's good dinner at Welcome Everyone Restaurant (Ta Jia Lai). Seafood here was expensive and the food was really not good. On the other hand, the location of the village was at the outskirts and it faced the sea. Nice location but wouldn't one to travel so far in to some kampung even though the view maybe nice for food that really isn't nice. Wonder why people go in there!

Poring hot springs and on the way to Salut stopped for Kelapa Bakar. ( Kelapa Bakar nothing special to the taste just that the coconut water is warm)

Day 3
We took about 3 hours drive up to Kudat from KK to see the much talked about Tip of Borneo. Very windy but since its by the beach felt a little sticky after that. It was high tide so couldn't see all the stones.

They say that the big icon signifies that you have reached the place and the trip is not complete till you take a photo with it so well we did. Jump shot failed but well it looks hilarious.

After the journey to Tanjung Simpang Mengayau - Tip of Borneo we had lunch in KFC Kudat. Mind you eating in KFC in East Malaysia is even more expensive. On an average is about RM1 extra for everything on the menu. The coleslaw here tastes different and the mash potato is a bit too watery. Anyway, we paid RM3 (for adults) and RM2 ( for students) to visit the Rungus Long House. Well it was an experience to just see how it looks like from the inside. Not much activities. For RM3 a bit over priced since there is no activities inside. However, there are little stalls inside where you can buy some 'kraftangan'.
Ladies selling kraftangan

The accommodation that is available for rent. Mind you the ceiling is exposed so people standing on the top can see everything going on inside.

Nice location near the hills.

Dinner was in KK town - Wah Hing Seafood Restaurant. The non-seafood dishes were not too bad. Quite pleasant but the seafood dishes were not up to mark at all. Tasted horrible! Price wise is not expensive but not cheap. Can get better ones in Kuala Selangor / Batu Kawan / Kuantan.

The lobsters were too hard. Tasted worse than prawns.

The crab sauce was nice but the crabs tasted like mud.
Day 4
Not much photo sessions on the final day. Woke up early and took a stroll on KK esplanade. Visited the fish market. We early enough to see the fishes being brought in. What a fishy experience.
Most of the markets were not open yet so we head back to back to Marina Courts and enjoy the time in the apartment before we checked out. Rather surprising was the owner of the apartment came before the check out time and barged into the apartment. Imagine that! Guess people here does not know what manners means.
Anyway, after that we decided to leave the apartment earlier so we could head down to the filipino market. Picked up some stuff and headed for lunch. Met Billy (our church friend) at the makan shop. Amazing! He was here for holiday as well. What a coincidence.
Mum wanted to pick up some seafood so we searched for the fish trader. The journey was so long and there was traffic jam I slept awhile in the car. When we reached there we were busy picking up chocolate (Sabah Chocolate which mum was trying to find the whole time we were there but our first time seeing it) and other goodies.
Before heading to the airport, dad wanted to have proper dinner so stopped by some makan shop but since the rest of us were still quite full we walked from mini market to mini market. Guess what! I was shocked I bought sabah tea for my colleagues at RM3.50 at the fish trader shop and lo and behold its only RM1.80 at the mini market. What a big ripped off!!
It was even worse when we reached the airport, the sabah chocolates at the airport (same brand and design) were much cheaper than the ones we bought at the fish trader shop Fong Seng in Innaman. Can't believe that the tour companies takes the tourist to Fong Seng which sells things at a more expensive rate. (Even more expensive than the airport!)

Overall, we arrived safely back home. Rascal and Cyrus were rather glad to see us home. Although for Cyrus it means back on the leash.

Its a little too dusty in Sabah. Probably because the roads are not like those in KL. Dust everywhere. Things are not developed there and cost of living is much higher. Except for the seafood groceries are much more expensive as well. Things need to be much more develop on the other side. With so much resources, I wonder why the government is not developing the towns. So much can be down for such a wonderful scenic state. Oh.... local food here well, not as good tasting as in KL.Probably because everything here is so simple.

Well, thats the bit and pieces of Sabah.

Jess, Sok Ling and me back in 2006

It was a good meet up session with one of my craziest ever college mate (None other than Jess). True to itself she manage to get the entire restaurant attention. She really has a big big heart and thanks to the internal instant messaging system we have in the Bank, I am still able to keep in touch with her. She's probably one of the only people around where I work that keeps my sanity. Being in the working world where everyone's from a different generation is really heart warming to be able to talk to someone who's from the same wave length.

Sad to say that we are working different hours and at different locations. She's based in Cyberjaya while I am in the heart of KL and while she works in UK time, I am working in Malaysian time. Its been ages since I last met her, and although we could keep in touch on-line its quite different to be able to meet her face-to-face.

Well, lately I have been hearing a lot about how the 'older' generation spend their youth it dawn upon me that my youth is far slipping away and if I continue to wait I will never be able to say I had a fruitful 'youth hood'. I am proud to say that I never regretted my childhood neither did I regret my College days, I believe I have live it to the fullest (in my own understanding) and since I stepped in the working world, I have allowed circumstances to get the best of me. No more of that!

To mark that I am going to live everything to the fullest and to inject back life into my years here on earth, I have poured in hope. I have started taking mandarin classes. (Not those where you learn how to read, write and soon a scholar) Its a bit taxing as I have to rush for class after work and to wait for the all wonderful KTM and reach home slightly after 11pm and get up again the next day for work. (Mind you the horrible KTM can make you late eventhough you arrive at the station at 7.12am as the train can come as late as 8.30pm) What other steps I will be taking well as time goes by I will blog about it.

Oh! I watched the wedding of Prince William and Kate. Amazing how everyone around the world and especially in London celebrates with them. I can imagine the jam packed tube after the entire ceremony. Anyway, I guess Kate and Prince William has brought in an extra flavour to the royal family. Soon to follow little Kates and Wills. Do hope that this fairytale love will last. Its nice to see that he faces lit up when he saw her. Well, interestingly the wedding was also shown in Dataran Merdeka. Sad to say I hardly even know anything about our own country King and Queen what more their children or grandchildren for the matter.

Well really glad May its finally here! Less working days. ;)

A little about Easter, it was such an experience to be able to worship God in the open an at such an unearthly hour. Glory indeed to God on High. Really can imagine when one day we will be seeing the Lord Jesus face to face and singing praises to Him everyday in the open outdoors. How awesome! ~ I'm sure the weather be much better then. ;) It was rather hot when it hit 8am. Sun beating down my back and all I could think was to run for shade but praise God for the beautiful weather then.

The Bible says that God has defined the place and time in which we are to live. "LORD, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance" (Ps 16:5-6).

After much questioning about whether this is really where God has placed me, I can say for sure I know God has called me here. Struggling through I was at the verge of giving it all up, throwing in my towel but God just kept holding me up.

It can never be more assuring to know that although things around you just don't seem to be going the way you want it to be that one bigger than the circumstance and the issues is holding everything together and watching over me.

I really believe that just like Joseph who was brought through so many different trials could come out victorials because ultimately He knew who He was serving. One of my friends asked me one day whether is it really worth it to work in place where you know you could be better off elsewhere with more time for yourself and family and probably more interesting. I remember giving him this answer that its Christ we are serving whether with the missions, in the church, in our families or even at our workplace.

If He has called then no matter what, He is there. Ultimately is not about quality of time in what we can do rather doing what God intends us to do. That does not mean all will be at well but that means God will be there even when things are bad. It is here that we will receive our inheritance as we fulfill our purposes in and through our work life call.

Have you ever felt a strong conviction that there is a stronger source far above our control, far above our thoughts?

Its the season of Lent, so I took a conscious effort to reflect on my journey with the Lord. Sometimes, when you are with one person for so long you tend to forget that every moment is special and you take for granted the relationship that is shared.

I accepted Christ when I was in Standard 4 in a Christmas Eve celebration in church. It was a little weird on how the whole thing happened. As an innocent child, I raise my hand saying yes I want to accept the Lord. My little sis and little bro was with me and we went up together. I knew little about what this meant but my journey in the Lord did not start here (I am sure it started way before I was born) but it was the beginning of many more to unfold, a major milestone in my life.

The excitement grew even more when my elder sister who already accepted the Lord in an evangelistic camp was excited and shared with her friends that we accepted the Lord. I was so proud of that decision I made, I even went around telling my friends that I have accepted the Lord.

Fast forward through time. Its been 10 over years and the Lord has been faithful. In every wrong turn I make, when I stumble and fall, in my sinful selfish self the Lord has never forsaken me. Indeed many times I ask this question. Who am I that the Lord of Host, the King of Kings would want to have a relationship with me?

I'm ever grateful that although the years has passed, His love for me has never changed. He was there when I was 10 to listen to me say Lord be the Lord of my life. He was there when I had to make a decision when I was 16 whether to remain in the science stream or to move to the arts. He was there when I felt all alone and when I felt everyone was against me.

He was there when I was looking for a place to continue my education and the course I wanted to take. He was right there when I was homesick during my first semester in college. He was there when I cried for finances when times were tough. He was there when I struggled to cope with the pressure from CF and studies.

He was there when I had to leave my family for the very first time for a long time. He was there when I was in the land of strangers. He saw me through the time I backpack around Europe. Never for a moment lacking anything. Keeping me healthy throughout.

He was there when I felt all is lost. He was there when I didn't know what job I should apply for (He literally gave me the job. The job came to me not me applying for it). He saw me through the difficult period of starting out in a place totally out of my comfort zone.

He brought me through experience after experience with Him. He is there to hear me say Lord forgive me for the proudness of Spirit each day. He is still here for me, patiently allowing me to spread my wings. Allowing me to stumble, just like the Mother Eagle, He lets me fly watching from a distance allowing me to fall so that I my wings will strengthen but never letting any harm come to me. Nudging me off the cliff at times so that I don't stay comfortable in the nest but to grow and mature.

Really all I can say the Lord has been good. A friend I can always count on. Who am I to deserve such grace? Only a speck of dust on this earth. No rights at all but You gave it all for this human race.

No mountain, no valley, no gain or loss we know
could keep us from Your love
No sickness, no secret, no chain is strong enough
to keep us from Your love
to keep us from Your love

How high, how wide
No matter where I am, healing is in Your hands
How deep, How strong,
And now by Your grace I stand, healing is in Your hands

Our present, our future, our past is in Your hands
We're covered by Your blood
We're covered by Your blood

How high, How wide
no matter where I am, healing is in Your hands
How deep, How strong
And now by Your grace I stand, healing is in Your hands

In all things, we know that.
We are more than conquerors.
You keep us by your love.
You keep us by your love.

It has been a rather routine life. Waking up in the morning preparing for work, being all cramped up in the train to work, on the computer, start on my daily task, stare into the screen for the whole day, short break in between, cramped up in the train back from work, drive home, occasionally drive to the gym before heading home, prepare for bed and the same routine begins again.

I am sure those working can identify with me. Was rather relieve last week as it was school holidays. Road traffic was awesome!! (Can they have school holidays whole year?) I hitch a ride from my sister, allowing me to skip the KTM. Sweet!

The rest is pretty much the same but well....having that tiny bit of difference just makes your day.

I attended the CIMA practical requirement briefing and to my disappointment I am not sure whether I will ever get the practical experience required. Firstly, my current job will not give me the relevant experience required. It will only give me some but not all.

Honestly, I don't really like accounting related work. Yes I know I am an accountant but its just not my cup of tea. I will have to really re-think my next step. Nevertheless, it will be a decision I make in 2 years time. I will keep my word and work at the same place for two years before making my next move.

If the world ends before that time frame, that will save me a whole lot of thinking. Oh and also the CIMA qualification will be quite worthless then. Don't think God needs it in heaven.

The disasters around the world is really heart wrenching. If not natural disaster the human disaster in Middle East is equally bad.

As if the world is not uncertain enough, it is thrown with even more uncertainties. A time of peace is greatly appreciated. If only people will learn to leave disasters to nature and not help to add on towards it.
