Can't believe it the worst ever food poisoning I had. After driving for like several hours in search for the place my dad once brought us in Parit Jawa we went there for lunch and ate a huge meal. Guess every single bit of the meal is out. Horrible!! Effects started even before we reached home and the jam back home wasn't of much help. Glad that we reached home before it took a turn for the worse. Still suffering from the effects of the food poisoning. What a way to start the Lent season.
Well, anyway thank God that we didn't manage to find the place the day before if not the entire holiday would be ruin and I will not be able to conquer Gunung Ledang. =) I did it!!
The hike showed me that I was so unfit. Haven't been able to gain back my stamina which I had for the Mizuno and also Run for the Nation. Followed 3 unknown Indian uncles that nearly killed me for the first 200 metres up. It was just stairs all the way. Around 500 steps up. They had long legs and were striding up the steps, I could hardly catch my breath trying to keep up with them. Glad that after Checkpoint 2 they decided to go on ahead and leave the guide to me and my sis where we could walk at our own pace. (Those uncles are FiT. What can I say? Hash Harriers and Mountain Climbers, I am certainly no match for them)
Only then can we stop and take in the scenery and the wonderful breeze. The weather was fantastic especially when we reach the higher parts of the mountain it was chilly. Took pictures along the way as well. The guide which was younger than us took for us some of the photos and well he was patient.
The climb was a challenge. Took about 5 hours to climb up which included the stops and breaks and of course the picture sessions. We were only 30min behind those uncles and they didn't had picture sessions like we did. So guess we are not too bad after all. The going down was bad for the knees. Very steep too as usual the uncles were much ahead. Couldn't see them but when we reach down they have only reach 10 min earlier than us. Took us 2 hours plus down. Total of about 7 hours up and down. This of course does not include the time to enjoy the sweet success at the summit. We were the last group up the mountain but we manage to overtake 3 groups which started an hour earlier than us. I would say not too bad. =)
Good climb but the body aches are still there. Not as bad as I expected it to be. When up the waterfall which was another few hundred steps up but it was worth it. Exercise and also the scenery.
