heart4God
I have been so blessed by the Children. Indeed I thank God for the honor to be a part of their lives and also to be counted worthy to be able to hear and see what God is doing in their individual lives.

Last week, the senior class was on the topic Why do I pray? Well, I was thinking how to go about this and thought maybe the power of prayer will be good and thought that maybe asking them to see if they have seen God answering their prayers. (dumb me thought that I was the only who will have testimonies to share).

Anyway, I was going to get an awkward quiet moment which is usually the case if nobody has anything to share but lo and behold all were eager to share and nod their heads. Much to my amazement.

So Joanna decided that she will start the ball rolling (maybe coz she sat directly in front of me and I was looking at her) and shared how she had wanted to eat McD's so badly but it was raining so they couldn't go out and how after she and her sisters persuaded her mother to order McDelivery but how the mum walk into her room to take a nap instead. Disappointed she too went to her room and sleep. Her brother came home from work and woke them up for food. She thought that she will have to eat chicken rice which is something her brother will buy but much to her surprise, MCD's was on the menu. She added on by saying "teacher, God grants the desires of our heart you know?" Haahaa something I need to hear and hearing it from her is a good lesson!

Joshua then decided that he would go next. (Haahaa usually the one who will tell lots of stories but when ask to share will be the last) He say that there are a couple of times that he wanted to go swimming but the sky looked like it was going to pour. So he prayed and then got into his swim wear. The sun came out and he had a good swim. The rain came as soon as he is done swimming. What faith!

Aida was by then a bit shy to share hers and said something to this effect. "Mine not the same with theirs is about tithing can I share?" I said of course. So she shared how she had put 50sen in the offering bag in church. That week her mother gave her RM10 for her to buy food in school. So she paid for her food at the school cafeteria and when the lady returned her change she gave her back a brand new RM5 note. She was reminded of how God has said that He will bless 10 folds. (Honestly, I was amazed. No additional value added to her pocket but she thank God and am reminded of His goodness even by this small gesture. Inspiring indeed)

We then turn our attention to the last person Rebecca. (the real tai kah che aka big sister to all) She was smiling and said "you know since last year I was praying that I want more friends. Moving up to form 1 well new school new environment and all. I pray that I'll have more friends and true enough God answered my prayers. I have more friends now." She also said that she prays for opportunities to reach out to her friends. She also prayed that she will have more time to exercise and truly ever since the start of this year she has enough time to exercise. (When I heard she is praying for opportunities to reach out with her friends, I was encouraged. At 13 she is praying for opportunities to reach out!)

Joshua shared a final testimony about his seni (arts) book. On how he forgot to bring it to school. He explained that his seni teacher is one fierce teacher. This led him to pray. To his amazement, the teacher came to class that day and said that since there are so few students in class today, we will not use the book. and then he added this line "Teacher you know God answers prayer you know!"

After hearing all their testimonies. I was speechless. I had to stop for a while and think how to continue teaching. I don't have to tell them Why they should pray because they have seen the power of prayer and they are instead telling me about how we serve a God answering God.

I then encouraged them to write down all the prayers that God has answered so that they will always remember that we serve a great God. Next I ask them to write down at least 5 items to pray. One for their family, another for their friends, one for the church, another for the nation and lastly one for their own self. We then ended with prayer and I ask them to share at least one item on their prayer list.

Aida's item was on the church. Rebecca ask to pray for 2 of her friends that they will come to know Christ. Joanna ask for 5 A's for UPSR and Joshua.... he ask for a new handphone.

But nevertheless, I was inspired by Joshua's prayer for Sabah. He prayed for peace, that they will come to know Jesus and etc.

These are my teachers. Childlike faith? Seeing God through their eyes makes me see things in a different light. Much more to share but I shall stop here. Be bless!
