heart4God
The book of Acts have been one of those books that inspires me and challenges me on. Yesterday was Pentecost Sunday and I was blessed by Pastor Patrick Grant's message. It was a great reminder that without the spirit power there is no chance, absolutely impossible! to be able to do what God wants me to do / live out a missional living.

The past few weeks have been quite crazy and there were several occasions where I feel like 'O my! This is beyond me. I'm not cut out for this.'

1st instance was during the Hari Raya weekend where I was caught between the overseas country, my boss and what I feel. It was a weekend and the country was chasing me for a response, my boss gave his views but I couldn't see how I could word the policy so that it all worked out. Against my usual tendency to respond immediately, I felt the need to press into worship and prayer. Right after that God gave me the words. My boss, the country and the Board approved of it.

2nd instance, I felt like I was being attacked. One incident after another incident, 3 separate matters on the same night. I was all riled up and felt defeated. I concluded that I am not cut out to manage 'politics'. To cut the long story short, God cleared the matter where my other colleagues spoke up on my behalf and the matter was resolved without me doing anything. Truly God's hand.

3rd instance, last Friday my boss could not attend the Board meeting and one of my colleague too could not make it for the Board meeting. It was one THE Board meeting that I wish I did not have to attend alone. Somehow, God came through in the meeting. There was one of the initiative that was presented by the Country team and the Country Board was initially not for the initiative, they were not convinced with the benefits. I drew courage to speak up at the meeting and explained the situation, they listened and were a little open but I still sense hesitance, however in a turn of events, one of the issues which was highlighted in the meeting in a different agenda could be resolved with the initiative. There were immediate receptiveness and agreement from the committee.

4th instance, today I finally felt I should go address one of the pressing issues with my colleague. She's almost retiring and her usual response is to 'tai-chi' responsibility to other people. I asked if we could have a discussion which she responded in a hostile manner to me. I dreaded the discussion and prayed, Dal prayed too. Praise God that the discussion went well. We reached an agreement on the way forward of the issue at hand.

Truly we can't do anything on our own strength. It is the Holy Spirit at work in us, if only we let HIM.

Also a big shout out to my prayer partner and my pillar of strength who has been praying for me and with me through it all. Thank you my dear for constantly reminding me that we can always turn to HIM.

Acts 1: 8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

I found out that the mask causes my lips to crack and yeast infection to happened but I am thankful for the adventures and experiences.

Some of my favourite photos from the start of 2021 till to-date

One day before lock down (See it's like lock down after lock down), managed to celebrate his birthday together. Register car number plate was a super long queue but so glad to have him with me and then followed by movie marathon before heading home before lock down is imposed. God is good. Thank God for his timing.

My first time making pau. Baking adventures during the beginning of the year movement restriction

Chinese New Year this year was a low key affair. No house visitation. No friends over. Not the whole fam bam but we still had a good catch up with friends and family over zoom and still had a pretty decent meal.

My stir fry pork. Quite like the crunchiness of the celery. Really strange because I used to hate eating celery. Signs of aging?

Another sign of aging? Don't mind eating these kinda food which in the past would have be a total no no but well vegetarian fast can't complain but it wasn't too bad! I survived and no I did not grow smaller.... :(

When we can go down to KL, who else will I go and meet? Hehehe! We decided to meet at Mid Valley! =) After a near accident, grocery shopping, and trying to find vegetarian food we ended up at KFC eating vegetarian burger because the shops close early during this period... Attending class while chomping down vegetarian burger which wasn't bad at all. Yumsz. even my carnivorous partner approves of it! But he will still choose meat any other day. Hahah... Hou too would go with him.

My version of Kapitan Chicken ... is it Kapitan?

One of my comfort food throughout the vegetarian fast. Curry veg. Really helped with the blend vegetables. So glad that God invented spices and spices are not meat! ;)

Braised tofu. Never thought I would go find tofu since I don't like tofu but it did keep me full throughout the vegetarian fast but glad I don't have to eat tofu to keep myself full now. :P

Okay I look extra weird in this photo. One of the many times that my eyes is not looking at the camera. but thumbs up to Mr Carnivore for trying Simple Life. It was a 'no pass' but still proud that he tried his level best to eat. hahaha...

This on the other hand was also quite a challenge for me. Vital shot but felt like I was losing my vitals consuming it. Pungent but we had a good laugh looking at each other's expression trying to consume this little "Chili Padi"

He was quite happy when he saw "mutton curry or was it rendang" on the menu. Excitement quickly turn to funny faces. hahaha... For a person who can consume a lot of food, he sure eats like a bird when we frequent the vegetarian outlets.

This was yummy and good. A good time of catching up with Daniel too. We took a few photos together too at Bukit Tunku. Rained stopped a bit for us to go wild!

Well apparently one went super crazy! I was worried he would be shy but surprise surprise! Whacky, crazy all the way.

Love moments with my brother but I have to be prepared to face this. Talking to myself while he stares at his phone. Sighz......

Day out at Sekinchan. It was a blistering hot day and boy did I get more than the tan I need. We made 2 new friends and lots of laughter in between. It was quite a rush but still thankful that we could meet up before Grace heads back to Kuching.

More shots at Sekinchan. It was hot and windy which it is testament by the Chinese eyes and the crazy hair blowing.

Guess who we bump into at Mid Valley! Daniel who was doing superhero moves down the escalator. Perhaps we saved him from getting more noise from the security guard who was concerned about the safety of such such a stunt.

When he comes all shaven and bonus when it is straight from a wedding because he will dress better. hahaha...... Love it when he looks so smart looking! ;)

Right from the smart looking we looked like we got up from bed. Outdoor badminton. Not the best but can't be choosy in such times. Love the outdoors, love the sweat sesh, of course love the company. Somehow with him around, Hou will exercise too.

Grace's farewell dinner at Mid Valley. Ladies meet up.

We looked like we are ready for some battle. It was fun just edging each other on to do more. Of course it was much much more bearable when you are doing it with another person. Interesting, right before this we were both arguing and here in this photo, we are all smiles. That's part and parcel of relationship right? You fight it out, you disagree but at the end of the day, you are a team. We workout and overcome our differences to be the iron that sharpens iron.

More of my cooks.

Trying to make it look photo worthy. The best feeling I have is when I see my family finishes up everything I cook, it is a sign that it is a pass!

Cooking pork curry from scratch. Is this a pass?

Taking mum out for buffet! Well, it was supposed to be an all ladies makan in January but locked down, restricted movement, we could only meet up in April but it was nice catchin up, eating and eating and eating... I want to be free to move around again. Uninhibited with wearing mask, scanning in and keeping my distance from people. When can we come together again? When can we shake hands, hug one another and share the same breathing space without fear of landing up in the ICU?

Sisters for life! We even got matching pendant necklaces and earrings. Woohooo!

Burger boy... does that make me burger girl? But I don't quite fancy burger.... okay some burger still okay but okay okay... to be fair, some days burger, some days some other food choices.

He wanted to watch mortal combat. Thankful for the comfortable chairs otherwise the show will be quite a pain. Every part of me was shaken. Why do people even watch such shows......

Subba's wedding. A time of reunion with colleagues. Sad that we are all masked up

So glad to be able to meet the ladies again. Would be nicer if we could have gone for a cup of coffee but the rising cases is really quite worrisome. Glad that nothing happened and none of us came down with the virus. Friends from HSBC and continued on in UOB but we are still friends even though we are no longer in the same work place. Thank God for all the work experiences and the people He brought into my life.

1st May 2021

First stop of the day! Devotions time together and just about any opportunity to see him. O boy.... I'm quite a fan girl huh? fangirling 🙈 Is this even legal? but... but... but....

Lunch outing with none other than Ms Lim! Strange friend she is but I enjoy every moment spent with her.

We tried the waffles but the fruits were just too sweet for me.

Her usual unimpressed look. And I just love sharing these face with the other gals. Hahaha.... much to her dislike but doesn't she look cute even with this face? ;)

The 2nd dish that we tried. The potato waffles is a winner for me but the chicken breast... hmmmm.... I think maybe a bit dry. Otherwise it is really not too bad a meal. Quite place too and great service from the waiters.

And after all the eating with Levina, it was time to have dinner with the parents. Just us all the way to Klang. Back to the place we used to go together. When we were young, my parents use to take us every weekend for bak kut teh in Klang, now it's my turn to take them here. Down memory lane...

2 May 2021

Finally! Awwwwww...... Village Park Nasi Lemak. The Sunday before lock down. Thankfully it is far away and hard to come by. Very very bad for any diet plans. All diet plans gets chucked at the entrance of the restaurant. Savour all the yummy goodness of the Fried Chicken, Sambal, Coconut rice... Yumsz..

Right before the official MCO 3.0 (5 May 2021) We went for lunch together and I worked from his place and we attended Leadership Conference together. It's been more than a week now since we last met physically and I'm truly thankful that at every MCO, CMCO, God has been really good to let us spend the last few hours together before the lock down happens. Can't wait for the interdistrict travel bans to be lifted and for the pandemic situation to improve drastically. More food adventures...

A mix of Asian and Western food on a platter.

Lemon Crumble Cream Cheese Muffin. It was a first but definitely could improve more. Taste wise is okay but texture needs to be worked on.

Oh how I miss times like this together. Physically would be preferred but I will settle for virtual one too when the situation does not permit. We chat, worship and pray together. While we can try to be logical, rational, and work hard towards building our relationship, it is not possible or sustainable if it is not because of God's grace. Truly it is worship that changes our lenses on relationship. Without God, it would be a meaningless exchange. Christ is the example, our cornerstone which we build our dreams upon. O may we continuously seek HIM till we meet our Saviour face to face at the end of our journey here on earth.

It's MCO 3.0 but feels like it has been constant lock down, restricted movement since 18th of March 2020. It's easy to fall into despair and feel stuck / locked in but the blessing of being a child of God is that when the circumstance / situation arises depicts a bird which has its wings clipped, the Lord of Heaven armies says we can sing, we can praise, we can dance in the storm, trials, captivity. For the final word is not with the government of the day, or even the situation that is around us but the final word is with the One who deserves all praise, The one who is my exceeding joy.

Psalm 43:4

Then I will go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy, and I will praise you with the lyre, O God, my God.

Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him in the morning

Praise Him in the noon time

Praise Him, praise Him, praise Him when the sun goes down

Love Him, love Him, love Him in the morning

Love Him in the noon time

Love Him, love Him, love Him when the sun goes down

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Let the attitude of my heart be to trust in the Lord the one who holds my future in His very hands. Let my gaze be fixed to Him and Him alone.

I am absolutely blessed to be a child of God, a precious daughter of the Father.

This year we are not able to celebrate Valentine's Day together and no grand or big celebrations but one thing about my man is know how to keep his word when he says he loves me, honors me and cherishes me.

The awesome great qualities that makes me fall in love with him more and more.

  1. We have a morning mantra that we tell each other this morning (started somewhere this year) and he never forgets to recites it every morning.
  2. He remembers my likes and dislikes especially with my 101 food requirements.
  3. He gives me the best part of the chicken / meal whenever we eat together.
  4. He cuts the waffles to bite pieces and feeds them to me. (Yes, I never have to cut the waffles on my own.. I wonder if this applies when we are in a group setting... yet to be tested) 😜
  5. He knows I like him cleanly shaven and I feel very loved when he takes the time to shave before seeing me. 😊
  6. He listens to me and secretly goes off and get them delivered to me. Like the weights! And the chocolate.... O boy... he does pampers me.
  7. He puts me first. Is amazing how he is busy at work but if I talk to him, he will pause, stop and looks at me to hear me out. And when I need him, he's always there to lend me a "shoulder", virtual one since we've been in lockdown for so so many times... I am amaze how he would continue he's work way past midnight because he carved out a few hours before I sleep (which is early) to talk to me / pray for me first.
  8. He makes a point to update me and let me know what he is up to and he's whereabouts.
  9. He knows how flustered I am when I'm bogged down with work and assignment deadlines and therefore takes the time to help me with my assignment eventhough he has he's own sound mixing / editing to do.
  10. He's gentle kisses on my head / forehead and a squeeze on my hand or a side hug that tells me that everything is okay.
  11. He praises me every now and then
  12. He verbally appreciates me for the things that I do for him
  13. He goes for a haircut even though he is trying to save hair cut money and too lazy to get one but he goes because he knows how when he is nicely groom, I feel like I am with the handsomest most amazing man (yes, he is even when he is not so nicely groom but when he is, it just sends all the positive vibes down me)
  14. He lets me in on his life and shares the ups and downs while listening to mine too. (I like how we can communicate what lies on our heart in an open and transparent way)
  15. He makes it a point to pray for me every morning and night. Even when he is rushing for work, he will take the time to voice record the prayer. Or even when I give him the cold shoulders, yet he will text me and pray for me. A commitment he kept even before we became a couple officially and he still does till today. The one occasion when he was exhausted and was waiting for me to finish showering and didn't pray for me for just one night, was a big deal to him. That spoke volumes to me because it meant he keeps his word.
  16. He takes the time to do daily devotions together with me and goes for spiritual retreat / conferences together virtually eventhough we can't do it together physically.
  17. He goes the extra mile to cook. Lemon Curd (Yumz!), Dhal, Chicken Sambal, Portuguese Chicken Curry, Burger.. Every single drop of gravy, curd tasted excellent and what makes even more 'delicious' is it was made by him.
  18.  He opens the car door for me (except for certain time when he is shy because there's people around 😝.. still waiting for you to do that when there's others around). Every time he does it, I feel like I am a very precious princess and I can't help but beam like a bright beamer.
  19. His big heartedness to apologies to me. Many people would skirt around the issue or try to make up by doing something good or giving something or showing affection as a sign of sorry but nothing means more than the word "I'm sorry" without giving any excuses. This is one area which I have to learn myself but he does this so much better than me. It's not the word "I'm sorry" but the heart of humility behind it that makes me adore him.
  20. He tries new things. He is one person who dislikes new things. New food, new drinks... quite a tough nut to crack but he promise that he will always try one mouth and while sometimes it takes a bit more persuasion but he does it anyway. When your man does that, it just says "I love you so so much hence that is not a barrier"
  21. His heart of service. I thought he was just saying it when he told me that he's way of showing me love is by displaying acts of service but many months since, I can say that he has a servant heart. Taking my bag, carrying stuff for me when we are out shopping.  Getting up and taking the chili sauce or the extra paper tower. All these what seems like little things but is BIGG and I am so so blessed.
  22. He challenges himself to learn more and grow. Seeing him taking the initiative to find out about investments, reading up about audio, going for classes in the wee hours of the morning to improve his skills and then testing and trying them out may seem like he is improving himself for his own needs. but this also tells me that he is committed to growth and no relationship can survive unless there is continuous growth. Growth of wanting to known the other person more, improving ourselves as a way of honouring the other person.
  23. Okay there is just so so so many more and it will be a long list to write it all out...

Funny how it is the small things that warms your heart and make you feel all fuzzily warm. Thank you dear for making me feel like the luckiest, most blessed woman in the world and indeed I am. Happy Valentine's Day, my Valentine😘 Truly God sent.

heart4God

This blog has been around since 2009... this means I have here more than 10 years worth of stories and this has been the craziest year ever. A year where the world takes a pause, goes into a state of confusion, adjust / adapts and now emerge (or rather will emerge) stronger and different than before. The year that has made many businesses slow down, fold up but have also seen an accelerated growth in other businesses especially in the area of technology / digitalization. Never before have we become so dependent on technology to connect and related to those around us but yes no matter how technology has progressed, it still cannot replace being physically present to meet with your loved ones, to be with your friends, to experience the occasion and etc.

Whatever it is, 2020 showed that the pandemic can try to stop us from coming together. The government may make it difficult but as long as we stick together, we will make it through. And that is a wrap for 2020.

Tjoe's Japanese Birthday Celebration at Taman Desa

Dad's rushed birthday celebration so that everyone will be around to celebrate his birthday before lock down.

The very first time when we both wore something nice for a special meal together. Celebrating God's gift of love.

The fateful day. It was indeed an eventful day but thank God, nothing happened to Hou

The visits to these cheeky crazy little kiddos in a very beautiful place. God has a plan too for this people.

Lunch / Breakfast before my ACAMS exam and our little trip to Gentings.

The wiring took than expected but we spent time together and had a lovely dinner together at Morganfields. Piggy goodness.

When we were allowed to visit the kiddos. Miss spending time with them.

Our little  day trip to Tg Sepat

Kinda describes the giver too. Just that he is not dark chocolate. :P

It is not what you do but who you are with that counts. Of course, I'm sure whipping up something that he can satisfy his tummy after labouring away is something he appreciates.

Meet up with Yoke Yoke!! And just before that we had Village Park Nasi Lemak. Surely wouldn't mind going there again for a meal. It is good! I think there's drugs in it.....

I am very blessed to have someone who thinks about me and takes good care of me. Walking into a grocery store when he is buying stuff for his mum and coming out with a bar of chocolate to say that he is thinking of me and wanting to surprise me. Yups! He is sweet. ;)

Hmm... this came close to 5 years later but hey... he kept his word. Haha.... I have to say, it was yummy! Burger made by the burger boy...Thanks dear.

And we managed to celebrate mum's birthday which happens to be a public holiday at Kuala Selangor. Short trip but I enjoyed myself. I love my family and yes... I love the cheesecake too... It was too good that the calories didn't matter. Oh yes... it went downhill thereafter...

Finally meeting these lovely bunch of ladies after a grueling Greek journey. Maybe that is why we went with an English instead of Greek cuisine. haha... okay lame ... but thankful for the ladies that struggled together... 7 more months..... ahhh... can't wait till it's done and dusted.

Christmas gift giving. Who says we can't give gifts even though we are not in church?

Giving my room a fresh coat of paint. My work + bedroom + activity room. Just needs a kitchen and it can be a studio unit.

The day when I decided to give my dear a taste of what it would feel like if we go backpacking my style. I hope that doesn't scare him. Yummy pork ham... munching in the car after buying them. Our first time at i-City Shah Alam

What did you do at i-City? I went to meet my long lost cousin. Say hello!

Christmas giving Orang Asli style. Let's go with anything that can fit in the car. muahahah...

So how did you celebrate Christmas and also your anniversary? Well, picture says a thousand words.

Esther's birthday celebration

Heart to heart talk with Dr Grace. Something that we have been wanting to do for more than a year. Finally a meet up together. #koreanpancake #myanmarworkers

28 December 2020

When a man loves a woman.. he knows what she likes and what will thrill her. He goes beyond expectations and above all he knows that above all the gifts, letters, activities, nothing is more dear to woman then to know that she is heard, she is loved, she is understood, she is cared for (and boy.. does he know how to make a woman feel like the most blessed woman in the whole wide world) and she is a joy to be with.

He sure knows how to win a lady's heart. Our anniversary do a few days later from the original day. Aquaria KLCC. The walk in KLCC seems so short but it was educational indeed. It was everything but a fishy experience. Pun intended. Wish we brought the tripod and perhaps we need to invest in a better camera as it seems to be our favourite activity together. :p

We suffered body aches which continues on days later but we scaled many walls together! Feel like we have scaled many walls together indeed and many more to come. Harder, easier, what matters is we are on the right track and are there for one another cheering each other on.

Never thought he was into the shine and glitz. I appreciate all that you do dear. Thank you so much for the night of heart to heart talk and watching me crashed in your car while you drove me home thereafter.

And if that is all not enough, you took the time to pen down your love for me.

What can I say but thank you and love you dear. You are indeed a gem. Okay enough mushiness in public space. Looking forward to 2021!
